Christmas Q&A

I've always wanted to do one of these Q&A in order to share more about myself, so here we go. A couple of questions highlighting my version of Christmas.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS FILM?
The Horse Whisperer. I remember how we had gotten this movie as a Christmas present and then watched the movie many years afterwards. I love the opening scene when Grace walks over the white field getting ready for her ride.

HAVE YOU EVER HAD A WHITE CHRISTMAS?
Yes! As a child we could sort of count on white Christmas in northern Germany. Unfortunately this has changed and now this is rarely the case.

WHERE DO YOU USUALLY SPEND YOUR HOLIDAY?
Back at my parents' with my sister, grandparents and aunts. We are a big crowd and I love how the food is prepared, people popping in one at a time. We are hanging out in front of the fireplace, catching up on the year.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS SONG?
Holidays are coming. ("Love is the reason, it's always the real thing.")

DO YOU OPEN ANY PRESENTS ON CHRISTMAS EVE?
We do. In Germany it is a tradition to open presents in the evening. That's when we have all the good food and celebrate.

CAN YOU NAME ALL OF SANTA'S REINDEER?
Haha. No, I can't. The only one I know is Rudolph.

WHAT HOLIDAY TRADITIONS ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO MOST THIS YEAR?
Food! And hanging out with my family, doing nothing really apart from feeling that slow motion of the days between Christmas and New Year's.

IS YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE REAL OR FAKE?
It's real, we run a Christmas tree business. Haha. I grew up in Christmas tree heaven. My sister and I always wanted to get the biggest tree, but mum tend to opt for the small version which is not leaving too many pines.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ALL-TIME HOLIDAY FOOD/SWEET TREAT?
Oh I love cinnamon stars and everything gingerbread. (Quite disappointed I couldn't find this anywhere at Marks&Spencers here in London).

BE HONEST: DO YOU LIKE GIVING GIFTS OR RECEIVING GIFTS BETTER?
I feel like it shows that you truly care for a person. It show you have thought about another person's needs or wishes and a gift can offer a strong impetus on another person. I guess I like receiving gifts as a means to see visible love?

WHAT IS THE BEST GIFT YOU'VE EVER RECEIVED?
That's difficult - I don't remember and I think that's a good thing. If I would have the best gift in mind, I would compare all other gifts against that which would not be fair.

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR DREAM PLACE TO VISIT FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON?
Sweden! In fact, I feel pretty darn grateful to still be able to return to my parents, so no place I'd rather go.

ARE YOU A PRO-PRESENT WRAPPER, OR DO YOU FAIL MISERABLY?
I fail miserably, as my Secret Santa buddy will probably testify. Advice: Don't buy glittery wrapping paper as the tape doesn't stick.

MOST MEMORABLE HOLIDAY MOMENT?
There was one Christmas when we were younger. After Santa had left, we went outside and it had been snowing. We were jumping around on the street doing snow angels. Oh, and spending Christmas with my host family in Indiana.

WHAT MADE YOU REALIZE THE TRUTH ABOUT SANTA?
I still believe in Santa. I think the commercialized version of Santa, the down-to-earth version, is obviously not true. But I think the entire point of Santa is that when you are doing good in the year on all levels, you will be rewarded.

DO YOU MAKE NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS? DO YOU STICK TO THEM?
Rarely. But I do get into a different mindset which allows me to get to the Bigger Picture.

WHAT MAKES THE HOLIDAYS SPECIAL FOR YOU?
The feeling of time. Time seems to come to a halt.

Hope you enjoyed!
Do you have any special Christmas traditions?

Much love,
